Update for Phoenix Readers:

Hi guys! Guess what? For the first time in probably a year (or more) I really enjoyed writing today! It has been a long time since I sat down in one sitting and wrote for such a long time. Since my last message on the most recent chapter, I have reflected on the book and realized... I don’t really like it.

It is completely my fault so genuinely, feel free to be angry with me. Since it's been so long since I started the book, I absolutely cringe when reading my writing. I also do not like how the sequence of events were set up… leading me to eventually lose a direction for the plot and have a year-long writers block .

I have thus decided to rewrite it. I rewrote the first chapter today, and I like it a lot better. If you do not decide to stick along, I 100% understand. Although I try to be as understanding as I can, even I get annoyed when authors go MIA and leave me hanging. Hypocritical huh? However, I now understand better why writers don’t publish their work on the first draft like we wattpad authors do. Writing is a process!

A few things before I end this note:
-My rewritten version will have the same plot (aka you can expect everything in the synopsis (aka why you picked up this book) to be the same)
-I hope to breathe more character into Xiulan and the Emperor. A lot of what they do in the book just didn’t aline with what I had in mind for them and they were pretty two dimensional ngl. And I will introduce the Emperor much earlier, I promise, as, I know if I was reading my book, I would be so FRUSTRATED that the romance plot is so slow.
-Xiulan will not not be able to recognize the emperor by his eyes. Well… depending if I will keep the red eyes characteristic .
-You may not see some characters in this updated version :)
-Note that I am still growing as an author so by no means will the next draft be perfect

@Anemoiah it will be impossible to lose me as a reader and follower. When I find a story i like and love, i stick with it AND the author NO MATTER WHAT. That is an Unbreakable Vow if you catch the reference. Promises can be broken but an Unbreakable Vow cant be.

@Anemoiah hell fucking yeah Im going to stick to Phoenix. I will be stuck to your story like concrete and cement sticks to the ground and walls, like super glue or gorilla glue to various objects etc. Im one of those readers who stick around through everything. Writers block, Accidental deletions (sadly yes, this does happen, and Im not talking about just chapters when I put this, Im saying whole books as well), rewrites, you name it Im still there loving every bit, and I will still be here to read any and all versions of Phoenix and any other book you create and write.
