A letter to my authors:
Thank you all for being so patient with me. Thank you for your leniency. Thank you for recommending me to your friends, and understanding that this isn't just a way to get my stories more reads-it's my passion. Editing is what I hope to do for the rest of my life, and while everyone has doubts about their career path, you guys have helped solidify it. You may have noticed that for the past few weeks, I've been a piece of sh*t. At first it was for finals, and I let you all know and you were great about it. And then for winter break, I had to go back home to my family. Most students anticipate this with great joy, but for me, I dreaded it all quarter. Now I'm not go into details, but point blank: my home life is not the best. Being here has sent me into a depressive episode. Those of you who have messaged me may have heard about this. I meant to let all of you know I've been under the weather, but it's really hard to do-believe it or not. There's the stigma that mental illness isn't valid, there's the feeling you've failed and not wanting to face the perosn you've disappointed. Then, there's the general lack of motivation that comes with depression that's not only kept me from editing but kept me from communicating well with you guys. Now, no one has messaged me threatening to kick me off their story. I'm not making this post because of that. Actually, I've received thanks and well wishes, and promos. (And that all means the world to me). This post is to simply keep you all in the loop, and let those of you who haven't contacted me know that I'm not just bailing. I haven't ghosted. I'm just having some trouble with my inner demons at the moment but I'm trying to get better so I can be the best editor I can be for all of you. Thanks so much, again, for everything you've given me. Experience, friendship, time, and compassion. I hope you all have a wonderful evening.
