@AngelaSingletary Ah. I was expecting that view ages ago. But you're the first to express it! That story was specifically written for the West. The difference in the way the East and the West treat death is fascinating to me.
            
            I don't really agree with the sharing my husband thing either, but that's just the way the world used to work and still does in some regions. But dying to protect myself from a fate worse than death? Yes, I suppose I would but I'd try to take as many of the enemy down with me.

@cursedmouth I am an American woman, and the concept of sharing my husband and then killing myself is just too much. I do realize they were saving themselves from the atrocities at hand from the approaching army; I don't know if I could have done the same.
