I don’t know much about neuroscience, but I do know my brain lights up whenever she’s around.

I have a lot of questions in my head that will probably never be answered. They still feel heavy, but I’m choosing to accept things as they are. Even if I were given the answers, it wouldn’t change what’s already happened. She decided to stop trying to understand me. That decision now sits between us, and it feels permanent. It hurts, but I don’t blame her. Sometimes distance doesn’t happen because someone was cruel. Sometimes it happens because people get tired, and letting go feels like the only way they know how to move forward.

Sometimes I find myself talking to the sky or the stars, as if I’m talking to you. I tell it that I did good today, and I ask questions I know you’d probably have the answers to.
