That sounds good to me, half of my family is German and only speak German so there’s a big language barrier there, especially since my second language is Spanish because of the other half of my family

I don't know. It was the first or second language I learned and I used it the most. We can improve our German/English during chatting.
(It sounds kind of wrong to me)
