Dear @yukiwrites02
You weren’t even aware of my book until the accusations started?
You really want me to believe that? Well, color me surprised.
You REALLY expect me to sit here, nod along politely, and accept that your story just happens to open in Melbourne, with a female neurosurgeon, who has an adopted brother, who’s called by her Dadu in Chapter 1, the Fl is blamed for a death that wasn’t her fault, who has a traumatic past involving rape—and that you, somehow, by miraculous coincidence, managed to write that exact same arc… without ever hearing of my book?
Your definition of "coincidence" needs a serious reevaluation.
You say MY READERS have been reporting you and accused you of plagiarism. Interesting. Because that totally makes sense, right? A bunch of random readers just woke up one morning, brewed some coffee, and thought, “Hey, let’s go falsely accuse a writer we've never met of stealing a story we love — just for fun!”
Dear, let’s be honest for a second.
These people aren’t toddlers throwing tantrums because they skipped nap time. They're thoughtful, loyal readers — many of whom have been with my story since the beginning. Do you really thinnk that they can’t distinguish between inspiration and imitation? Come on. Give them —and yourself— a little more credit.
Right now, what I’m feeling is a cocktail of frustration, hurt, and exhaustion at defending my own original work. I don't say anything in the comment section of your story' or other writers stories that are copied from mine, does not mean I don't know this shit.
If you had simply reached out before publishing your story — told me you had something similar in the works, maybe even asked for permission or shared where your idea stemmed from — I wouldn’t have said a word. I believe in conversations over confrontation.
The least you could offer is honesty instead of this wide-eyed innocence act.
