My name is Arjen Broeze and I'm 46 years old. I live in the Netherlands and am a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy. I'm married and have two children, a 16 year old girl and an 11 year old boy.

I"m an avid reader (average at least 3 books per week) and one of my favourite authors of all time is Jack Vance. Two years ago I've initiated the Jack Vance ebook project, by writing an email to Jack's son John asking whether or not Jack Vance's ebooks would become available as ebooks any time soon. Together we've solicited the help of a number of other Vancethusiasts and starting converting all Vance Integral Edition texts to ebooks.

Creating ebooks looks like a simple job. A well formatted manuscript in Word, Pages or InDesign can be converted to an ebook almost automatically and it won't even look too bad. But, since automatic conversion also leaves a lot to be desired, and we believed our ebooks should match the quality and attention to detail which Jack Vance put into his own work, we spent the better part of a year devising a process that yields picture perfect ebooks in Amazon and ePub format. 

Last year in October the entire team got together in Oakland which is where Jack and John live. We met Jack Vance, who at age 96 is still very lucid and a great conversationalist. We talked about books, politics, the weather and played jazz music together. It was a wonderful experience.

Since I love working with ebooks so much, during that week in October the idea was born to start a new publishing house and my wife and I started "Black Bee Media". We're focused on creating electronic books. Our first project was polishing up two ebooks from Everett Coles, "Faces of Immortality" and "To Rule the Universe", both of which were also featured on Jack Vance's website: www.jackvance.com. Right now we're working on several other projects, among which the Dutch translations of these two titles and translations of previously untranslated work of Jack Vance.
