Over 2000 years ago a person named Kohelet wrote one of the world's most often quoted books of ancient wisdom. We don't know who Kohelet was but after he finished his book, someone appended these words to his text: "Kohelet was wise and what he wrote was honest and true."
Kohelet's honest words found a place in life some 40 years ago, and after decades of ongoing reflection, I embarked on a new translation of Kohelet's writings. It took five years to complete and by the time it was done, I had the new translation memorized.Later I began performing Kohelet's wisdom as a one person show complete with cooking an eastern meal on stage. As a result of that ongoing interaction with his words, I ended up creating a fictional account of Kohelet's life. This story became The Scroll.
I believe my story of Kohelet, interspersed with his own words from a fresh translation, is the key to bringing his amazing wisdom back to life.
