On July 17, 1987 Lynn Thomas (Sherri Shepherd) and her husband Reshawn White (Rodger Cross) gave birth to a healthy baby girl whom they named, Reshawna Lynn Whire.
Sadly, on August 4, 1989 while Reshawn was at work and Lynn was fast asleep, someone drilled a hole into the window of Reshawna's nursery and abducted her.
That woman's name was Kamiyah Adams (Aunjaune Ellis). Adams took Reshawna to Brideport, Connecticut where she raised her as her own daughter, under the name "Nigeria "Nellie" Adams"
While Adams raised Reshawna, Lynn and Reshawn never stopped looking for thier baby girl, and even put up a trust fun in 1995. The couple gave birth to a healthy baby girl when Reshawna was 6 and named her Tonya.
When White was 16, she solved her own kidnapping case with her faux aunt, Kylie Adams (Afton Williamson).
White was latee reuntied with her biological family after the DNA test were a match. Adams who was afraid to be caught, ran away leaving the police in a frantic search for her.
Kamiyah later turned herself in to the police and was later sentenced to 14 years of prison after her confession in court.
White confirmed in a interview with Oprah that, "Reshawna and Nigeria is not my name. My name is Nellie. That's the name neither my mother gave me or the woman who raised me, but the name I gave myself"
