@SydneySinclair When I post my stories do I get a copy right?

"We understand the worries a lot of writers have, having their works being distributed without their consent and worst of all, having someone else took the credits of their works. Therefore, we have tried and will try our best to disable the copy function in browsers. However, due to the technical limitations, it is not always possible for us to disable such feature on different versions of browser in all scenario. As a result, for some people who are technologically savvy, they CAN copy and paste the material from Wattpad, though it is not easy for an average user. I am not going to tell you how, but we know there are holes that we just cannot filled.

Given the digital nature of the internet, there is no bullet proof way to save guard anyone’s works from being distributed without consent. Even for the book industry nowadays, copyrighted materials are plagued by unauthorized distributions on the internet. These books companies are so much bigger than us and no doubt have more financial strengths, but still, their books are being freely distributed on the Internet. What I am saying is, no matter what kind of technology we use, there will always be new tools coming out and new holes to fill. The music industry is a good example.

Technically, no one can steal your work. They may distribute it without permission. The ultimate assurance we can provide to the writers, is that when they post their works on Wattpad, this establishes proof for the date the work was created. If there is any dispute about the original source of the work, the registered date of the digital work on Wattpad provides a third-party proof."

This is wattpad's policy on copyright that I'm going to post below. Basically it means that while there will always be ways to copy others' works from the internet (and wattpad will always be working hard to prevent them), it does still happen. However, when you post on wattpad, there's digital proof that you created the story first. SO if someone steals your work, wattpad will act as a third party proof that you created the story first. I might have have explained it all that well, lol... but here's what wattpad says:
(I'll have to post it in the next message seeing as this one would be too long!!)
