Ok people I would like to talk about the word shifted!
So basically it means moved. As in I shifted my weight from one hip to the other because I was feeling uncomfortable. Or I shifted the box from my doorstep to my hallway. In Scotland it also means moved house as in I shifted from Govan to Maryhill. In werewolf books it means I changed from a human into a wolf, or from a wolf into a human!
If you are writing a werewolf book please think about your terminology ! If shifted means wolf/human then don’t use it to mean moved about in my seat! I can not tell you how many times this has confused me!
Beware of which/witch and shuttered/ shuddered and writhed/withered!
Get them wrong and your story turns from exciting to hilarious!

@AstridWolfBitch YES. Just one word being spelled wrong all the time, can ruin a whole book-

Do you know? ‘Apart’ and ‘a part’ mean the exact opposite! If you don’t the please figure it out before putting either in any more of your stories oh many random Wattpad writers that are driving me to distraction!
Why am I writing this here you may ask?! Well there seems to be some prejudice against so called “grammar police” when really most of us just assume that you have at least a basic pride in your work and would welcome some constructive help! So from now on I am just going to be helpful here.

As someone who has a diverse heritage I still feel people would like to know if they have made a major mistake that could confuse their readership. I am totally in awe of people who can write stories in a language that is not their first language! BUT I assume for that very reason that they wouldn’t mind some help. If I was writing in my mothers language (which is my first language, but , local, schooling etc overtook it)
I would welcome constructive criticism .

I assume, based on the diversity of my readership, that there are also many writers for whom English is not a first language and that’s actually one of the grammar mistakes spellcheck/autocorrect routinely misses or messes up.

So Wattpad authors, Please, please, please do no use the word shift if you mean move! It’s VERY confusing when you are reading a werewolf or shifter story! In those stories shift means turn from human to creature or back again! NOT move! If someone says to a werewolf shift ~ when he means move over a bit ~ I’m expecting fur!

I usually only read completed books because I have been disappointed before by reading several chapters of a book that has been abandoned, unfinished. But now I have been really annoyed to read several chapters of a book that was marked as finished to find that I have to read the rest of it in Dreame. No warning in the description! That’s just rude! I don’t mind authors trying to make some money from their work, but be upfront and honest about it! Don’t suck me in and trick me into reading half a story!. This author will now be unfollowed by me. :(
