What would you say to a veteran if you had the chance? (I’m composing a letter and I want to include the ideas of others)
@AthenianBookNerds I would express my complete thanks and respect for them, as well as my intense hope that we wilL never have to honor the veterans of another war, but I assume that you’ve already done that. I can’t think of anything else, but I’d just restate everything in long and flowery sentences.

If you were killed, I wouldn't be at your funeral.
I would be in jail for killing the person who killed you.
We are true friends.
We ride together, we die together.
