So my question: do you at any point mention H*tler in your fic? I think you do, considering there was a whole chapter for his birthday gala, yeah? I was talking to a WP Ambassador earlier this week about my fic, and was told to avoid mentioning him at all, as even just the mention of his name gets flagged by the system. Figured I’d give you a heads up, because users have been waking up only to find their entire story had been removed. I'm positive my story mentions him, but if it gets removed, it gets removed. It’s a WWII fic after all.

And uh, I have a bonus question ;D
How's that next chapter coming along????

Attendez_la_Creme

@parIiamentary and fwiw I wasn’t around then either….I knew I liked the movie but I didn’t have ~the fateful rewatch~ until summer of 2019, and of course then I let Stranger rot unfinished for 4 years. lol.

@parIiamentary haha it’s just tumblr.com/velvet-waltz and don’t get TOO excited, it’s just a few sentences. As for the older fics, if you search by most hits/kudos on ao3 you’ll find some. There’s a GREAT shorter one about Aldo tracking Hans down on Nantucket after the war. I feel like the IB fandom now is so tiny I can’t expect more than a few readers at a time, honestly. I’m just grateful for what I have!

Hi all! Thank you for your patience, Chapter 16 of Stranger in Paradise is almost finished and should be up in the next 24 hours or so. It’s long, about 15 pages, but I think you’ll understand why. I’ll post another announcement when it’s up! Thank you!!!!!

You trooper you! Listen, I might start publishing soon. Just wanted to check with you – is it alright if I include Velvet Waltz as an honourable mention in my author’s note? I kinda have to, I drew so much inspiration from it and I’d feel weird if I didn’t give you a shout-out. So uhm the only correct answer here would be “YES of course you can give me a mention in your fic!” lol

Hey, it’s me again! (:
Surprisingly I am NOT here to pester you for another chapter (although if you could hurry up with that, that would be great I’ve even started rereading Velvet Waltz, I’m so far off the deep end)!
I’m actually here for writing advice. Seeing as you’re a professional and I can personally attest to how talented you are. I just need tips. So like...

What's your creative process like? I’ve started two different Inglourious fics, I have about 3 chapters for both, and I've unofficially given up on both of them. It's just so hard! Firstly, I keep getting sidetracked with WWII research, because I want that historical accuracy as well. Secondly, taking someone else’s character (like an Aldo Raine or a Hans Landa) and developing them further is so difficult to do, because of wanting to stay true to Quentin’s vision. I don’t know what they talk like in Appalachian America???? Also, trying to figure out how to weave German and French in there without making it impossible for English readers to follow along? A nightmare.

15 pages??? Girl. The way my jaw dropped! You are my long-chapter muse, lmaooo. I’m genuinely so excited. I keep refreshing my wattpad (because I don’t get notifications for the app) to see if the chapter’s out yet. Got me on the edge of my seat & shit. But I’m patient and ready! I’ve also completed the first chapter of my own Inglourious fic, but I want to have at least 4 chapters ready to go (incl. the prologue) before I start posting. Starting stories and not committing to it is very much my thing, but I'm trying to change that lol.

@parIiamentary you wouldn't believe how often I get questions about why I didn't involve Shoshanna more. I genuinely wanted to leave her revenge arc alone! And there's no way she and Sylvia could ever let each other know what they're up to without jeopardizing everything. They had to be ships in the night, and I think it's more poignant that way.

ANYWAY letting you know it's 1:45am here and I'm just about finished with the next chapter, which will be roughly 15 pages and I suspect you will LOVE. So hang on and I'll hopefully have it posted sometime tomorrow night.

Bottom line is, I think he knew she’s a Jew. And he knew exactly which Jew she was. He might’ve loved milk (he definitely did lol), but then he’d have ordered it for himself as well. I think there was some subliminal messaging there with him ordering an espresso for himself, seeing as the Parisians couldn’t drink coffee during those years (due to rationing, I believe? or the Germans seizing it all for themselves?). So it looked to me like just another mode of Hans asserting himself above her, especially since he didn't even ask her what she would prefer to drink. And the 'attendez la creme' bit – a lot of people say this was him trying to test her, considering the lard used in making cream and all that. But I think he already knew, and was literally just fucking with her. Like a cat playing with a half-dead mouse.

I think that in VW, it makes more sense that Hans didn’t know, because your main focus is Sylvia amd the Basterds. Shosanna’s plan wasn't running parallel to theirs in VW as they were in Inglourious. It would’ve made the plot far too complicated – American and British spies working for SOE, an American black ops commando sent in on behalf of OSS, a German actress working as a double agent for both the English and the Germans, an Austrian detective working for the SS. Including Shosanna’s entire story in VW would’ve made things far too complicated in my opinion, just like there wasn't a need to include Hicox.

Stranger in Paradise - Chapter 15: Across and Down is up!!! Whew! I'm feeling much better and managed to crank out a chapter I'm really, really proud of. Things are getting very intense with Aldo, Alain and Utivich in town, and Sylvia has to ask herself some tough questions. Meanwhile, Hans discovers a secret Hellstrom's kept from him, and Sylvia finds what appears to be a message in her daily crossword puzzle...

          Hope you enjoy!
