Someone asked me once why I write

My mind travelled different places.
Would he understand?
Would he understand the feeling
That comes when I don't put my pen on paper
When I am unable to communicate with my written words

Would he understand,
That my fingers itch
When something is on my mind
But the only way to express it 
Is by putting my pen on paper

Would he understand
That writing is my form of escape from this meaningless reality
That I am forced to live in
So I create my own worlds

Would he understand
That I love creating life,
Weaving together a story using the words we were forced to learn as we grew

Would he understand 
That Putting together the puzzle pieces 
And creating a picture perfect world
Breaks the anxiety that lives in my heart

Would he understand
That writing is what makes me, me?
That I am incomplete without my puzzle and plethora of words?

Would he truly understand?

So I smile and say,
"Because it's fun."
