Do you have fond memories of the first fantasy books you ever read? What excited you the most? Epic quests? Heroic warriors? Powerful mages? Fiery dragons? All of them? Do you read more 'mature' genres nowadays, even if you miss it?

In adult life, noble quests, magic wands, fictional monsters and enchanted towers can feel silly. Also, who has time for long-winded epics?

Yep. Put simply, fantasy is just for kids!

STOP!

This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Once we stop believing magic exists, it doesn't. Wonderous creatures wither and die if neglected. No one wants to live in a bland grey world, so why give up fantasy?

The recent resurgence of Fantasy is mostly thanks to younger readers, but that wasn't always the case. Fantasy stories were originally created by and for adults. Greek Mythology was an attempt to explain the workings of the cosmos. Aesop's Fables taught social and political morality. These stories are rigorous and relatable. They have meaning.

Borderlands is old style meaningful fantasy about the cosmos and the human condition from a fresh perspective.

Sounds a bit dry, heavy and long winded?

Borderlands careens through time and space with a full load of dynamic characters, wondrous beasts, unique locations and unexpected twists.

Borderlands is broken into convenient bite sized novellas. Though each episode of around 30k words can be read on its own, they do link together like a miniseries and tell a much bigger story.
