I migrated to this site after pondering upon my usage of a certain other fan-fiction website, which is both highly regarded by writers and likely the most extensive archive of fan fiction on the net, but also hosts straight up pornography mixed in amongst regular stories. Now, I am not morally opposed to the distribution of "lemons" and other such material, even if I myself generally avoid them. I also am completely on-board with, even supportive of, writing about difficult and controversial subjects if there is a sense of respect for said topics. However, I strongly draw the line at fiction that glorifies and/or eroticises incest, child abuse, sexual assault and prejudice. I felt sickened by the thought of my own stories being mingled with this vile filth.
I decided to put my money where my mouth is and stop using the site, either to post or read fan fiction. I know that others will disagree with my decision, but this is my own personal conviction. WattPad is far from a perfect site, but I respect that they disallow more extreme content. I also still use FanFiction.net, which has similar policies.
