She tried to speak.
Nothing came out.
Her lips trembled. Her breath stuttered. The words refused to form.
He took one step closer. “Noor.”
That was it.
Her knees gave way.
She collapsed to the floor, a broken sob ripping out of her chest. Her palms hit the ground as she folded inward, shaking violently.
“I can’t—” she choked. “I can’t do this anymore…”
Rudraksha was beside her instantly.
He dropped to his knees without thinking, catching her before she could curl completely into herself. She clutched at his shirt, fingers digging in like he was the only thing anchoring her to reality.
