WOULD make a good screen adaptation: Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This would make SUCH a good movie. Not as a movie released in theatres, however. Probably better off being exculisvley on streaming platforms. Do i think it would be a super popular movie? No. But i do think it would be like one of those hidden gems that is really loved. (granted it probably would get a lot notice as it is an adaptation).

would NOT make a good adaptation: The Folk of The Air by Holly Black. (or any holly black elfhame book) Now, i LOVE the cruel prince, dont get me wrong, but i dont imagine that the switching between elfhame and the mortal world would be very loved, especially considering that there is a very large gap between them. for example, in fate: the winx saga, there is jumping from a fantasy world to the mortal world but in the fantasy world there is a bridge between them, as technology is often used, while on the other hand, faeries probably dont even know what toothpaste it (not that they would need it, damn fae). in the cruel prince fan film, they do not show the mortal realm at all (im pretty sure) they just mention jude's backstory in dialouge. while this could be done in an official adaptation, there is no gonig around judes exile. or so we think. in an official adaptation, i quite frankly would not be suprised if they tip toe around the judes exile to the mortal realm and have her like freaking exiled to her backyard idk but thats the type of ship that would happen if u let a studio near something as amazing and loved as the cruel prince. ultimately, just watch the fanfilm cuz i genuinely have full faith it wont be messed up.
side note: apparently ppl are hating on it bc its in french. like ive genuinely seen comments (not on the actual video but on videos about it), talking about how there should be english speaking actors. like wtff? use those finger ur using to hate to turn on some captions or to do ur daily duolingo lessons.

POTENTIAL to make a good screen adaptation: The Covenant Series by Jennifer L Aremntrout. It would make SUCH a good tv series, (five seasons long, one for each book. daimon grouped together with half-blood and elixir grouped together with apollyon, yes ik elixir is grouped together with deity in the newest copies, but for a tv series it would make more sense.) The series itself has a small fandom while the author nessasairly doesnt, which could be good for bringing in viewers without too many people being picky about casting (quite frankly it wouldnt make sense to be picky anyways, all the characters, while technically of greek lineage are essentially described as being american. it would only be good however if it was adapted by a studio that was not netflix, prime, or any other streaming service, and only then sold (is this the right way to phrase it?) to them for airing. HOWEVER it does have greek mythology elements, that i already know wont be loved by the general public bc there are defintly a lot of creative liberaties taken when mentioning them. i also defintly see it as a series that like gets cancelled after the first two or three seasons from low viewership. Ultimately, as good as a tv show it would make, it just isn't the right time for it. 2010s was probably the best time for it to have a possiblity to have a good tv show, and this is beside the point that JLA has a more popular series, From Blood and Ash which i haven't read, but i imagine has a better chance at becoming adapted.
