Is it just me, or are the bot comments getting worse than they usually are? Normally, I would go at LEAST two weeks before getting another one. But recently, it’s been every other day, and that’s when I’m lucky.

It’s becoming seriously annoying to deal with. Especially as someone who enjoys reading people’s comments. I’ll get a notification that someone commented, only to find out it was those stupid:

“Hey, I really liked your story… the scenes are just so vivid in my mind. Your words are transformed into pictures with my paintbrush. Here’s my IG so that you can DM me!” - That’s actually a tamer version of what it usually is, but you get the point.

The very first one I ever got, I almost fell for. But an obvious way to find out if it’s a bot without engaging with the comment at all is to just… check for whether there’s anything actually about the story. Most of them just put some sort of glaze in there, explaining how the story is well written or they can clearly imagine making art for the story. And yet, they never say anything truly specific, such as what scene they like or even a mention of the characters.

Once you’ve figured out it’s a bot, or it potentially is a bot, I would just delete their comment and block them.

But yeah. These bot comments are pissing me off.

I've also noticed that, usually, they only comment on the most recent chapter. The bot will automatically vote and comment on whatever the latest update is on a book.

It's good to hear that they're cooperative on that front. I'll have to go through all my notifs to find the bot comments I deleted so I can report the accounts.

Good luck to you to as well.

Unfortunately, that do be normal. From what I observed, the bots target books that are in the low thousands, get consistently updated, and are trending.

My fanfic used to get bombared with bots everyday until I reached the 50k mark and then they lessened; I've only attracted like two bots since the year started.

At least they're easy to spot now, their pfp's are either the generic Wattpad stuff or something that makes you go "that's kinda sus."

Only thing to really do is delete and report them to Wattpad, they've surprisingly been cooperative in terminating bots.

          	  Good luck and keep writing.

I might actually tweak out. So I found out while working on my most recent chapter that when I use anything to modify my text aside from the simple, basic, and bland functions Wattpad gives us… it doesn’t save after saving or publishing the chapter. No, it simply makes it go away. Which is funny…

Because I’ve grown accustomed to using things like strikethrough to get a certain effect across… Specifically in my Decisions chapter, which a certain part of a scene practically relies on strikethrough working… you can imagine my dismay when I learn it actually doesn’t pop up when I publish the freaking chapter.

Not only that, but in a future scene for Arc 3 that I have planned, there’s something that entirely relies on my ability to change the size and font of text. If edits like that don’t save, that essentially derails the whole thing!

I can’t even remember all the spots where I used strikethrough, but I know it’s a god awful amount. How the heck didn’t I catch this until just now!? But now I have to figure out a new way to get the same effect across…

AvgWattrr

It turned out that the corrupted text would still work. Thank god. However, the full vision of having the text spammed until it was a white wall was uh… to laggy. Trying to do that legit crashed the app on my phone. So I had to tone it down a bit.

@AvgWattrr I can guess what chapter you’re talking about so did the final product end up being what you envisioned

Hey! I see you listened to my advice to put your fanfictions in the mature section, keep up the good work! Anyway, I'm here to ask if you'll explain why Fuyuyami has the Death Return if you hadn't planned to explain it. I'll give you time to come up with an idea before arc 4 (I promised you critiques, so keep your word ).

thehunter09

@AvgWattrr You're welcome. Your fanfiction isn't the overpowered type (easy views and votes), but rather the most mentally challenging to write (and a story like mine that gets fewer votes and views). You have my respect, but when I finish arc 4, I'll advertise your fanfiction (those who work hard should win, big Cleon, my rules!).

AvgWattrr

Right, I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Keep it a secret for now, I don't want you to spoil it for me. Also, I advise you to keep this explanation for arc 4 (the Sanctuary by Satella herself) and not for arc 3, otherwise it might be incomprehensible in the context of the story!
