The rain hummed softly against the windows as Louis sat on the edge of the couch, his hands wrapped tightly around Harry’s. His voice trembled, but his resolve didn’t falter. “We’ll figure it out,” he whispered, his gaze fixed on Harry’s tear-filled eyes.
          Harry shook his head, curls falling messily over his face. “You don’t know that,” he murmured, his voice cracking.
          
          “I do,” Louis insisted, brushing a curl from Harry’s face. “We’ve come through worse. We’ll get through this.”
          But Harry couldn’t meet his gaze. The weight of management’s words echoed in his mind: It’s not worth the risk. You’ll lose everything.
          
          “I can’t do this to you,” Harry finally said, pulling his hands away.
          
          Louis froze. “What are you saying?”
          
          Harry’s tears spilled over as he stood, his chest heaving. “I love you too much to let you lose your dreams for me. You’ll shine, Louis. But they can’t know about us.”
          
          Louis reached for him, but Harry stepped back, the distance between them growing. The door closed softly behind him, leaving Louis alone in the silence, shattered by the love they couldn’t keep.
