I feel like yapping so imma yap—I notice a lot of guys look up to characters but never for the personality, only for the body. Like cmon bro… there’s a reason it’s just not working out.
Toji, for example, was REALLY popular, and likely still is, for men. As much of a bum as he is post first wife death, the fact that he HAD a wife he CLEARLY loved dearly to the point where he stopped working as a hitman should say a lot about the type of person he is.
It’s clear he put an effort to put his previous life on hold to live one much more fulfilling (only to get f-ed over by Gege Akutami, thus leading to his spiral and incapability of giving proper care to Megumi without an example. The example being his wife. Thus, the reason he sold Megumi is because he knew Megumi would live a better life there than he did.)
However, I only noticed people admiring ONLY his physique and capabilities instead of wondering how he got to the point where he was.
It’s clear that Toji doesn’t hate women, he clearly treats them better than men, which Kong pointed out at some point if I’m remembering correctly.
And Toji is the worst example yet because we only know him during his worst, not his best. I’m sure there are many male characters or leads that men look up to that are actually good people but they just refuse to dive into a character enough to see them beyond superficiality.
They see pride and confidence but don’t know bother knowing what the lines between really suggests.
Himmel is the only exception, but not a lot of guys are fantasizing about Himmel as they do Toji or Gojo (who I MUST RANT ABOUT BECAUSE PEOPLE MISCONSTRUE HIM A LOT, EVEN WOMEN.)
