“Dad?” My feet floating weightlessly over the clouds as I walked towards my father. He stood at the edge of a pearly white cloud, looking down and admiring his creations. He wore a white robe and gold spectacles. His silver hair flowed down to his waist. He turned around to face me. I took a shaky breath. “I need to tell you something.”
“What is it, Joshua?”He said in his gentil, yet powerful and all-knowing voice.
“Dad, I…” I broke his stare. “I’m gay.”
My father was a man who was able to predict almost everything that happened. But not this. He could never have seen this coming. His only son, being a sinner.
“I don't understand…” He said slowly. “What… what about Mary? I thought you loved her!” He manifested himself on a couch and fell into it.
“Her to, dad. She’s a lesbian. We were each other's beards in mortal life. We were married, and we enjoyed each other's company, but we were never romantically interested in each other. Dad, we… didn't you wonder why we were married but never had children? We never…” I stopped in hopes of preventing embarrassing myself further. The look in his eyes told me there was no stopping the disaster I had already started.
