            okay , so maybe such an intense offer made mark instinctively step back , it was nearly disturbing how willing the other was willing to die just to prove himself worthy of redemption . his expression softened , and he crouched down to it’s level , “ easy , i’m not gonna do all / that / , i appreciate the honesty though . “
            mark was young , relatively inexperienced , in some ways he wasn’t sure / he / should be the one to teach it . learning how to be a hero was hard , unlearning any programming his dad had left in him was harder , “ i can’t promise i’ll be a good teacher , but . . . i can definitely help you get started on the right path . “

benjamin grit his teeth at the clear display of amusement , willing itself to believe the hero wasn't mocking it . it was a valid reaction . it had to be . 
            how could he prove this desperate attempt to get back on a moral path wasn't a ruse ? another impulsive , half-assed act ? 
            
            lips drawn in a thin line , the hitman unclasped his headgear , sunk to his knees , and offered the gun to the hero , the muzzle facing himself .

            there was a pause , and a stifled laugh and he moved away from the gun quickly . it was horribly ironic how he claimed to want to target bad guys while holding him at gun point . for the sake of the other’s dignity mark tried to hold back even more fits of laughter , turning away and covering his mouth , “ a — are you serious ? like one hundred percent not lying ? “
            how could he even trust it ? he’s been tricked before and he wasn’t about to let it happen again , “ prove it . “
