            Barbie hated that she was getting so emotional over something so seemingly small. But she just couldn’t help shedding a couple of tears. It had been so long since someone had shown her a little bit of kindness. Not since her mother, who had been dead for years. Not since Verosika back in rehab, who she hadn't talked to in months. So when Carmilla hugged her, it was almost enough to push her over the edge, blinking away more tears as she eventually returned the overlord's embrace.
            
            "Why... why are you being so nice to me...?"

We’ll  be  alright  if  you  can  do  that ”  Carmilla listens carefully to their footsteps throughout this abandoned house and also what sounds like furniture being thrown. She remained calm and tranquil throughout their whole situation even when things got bad. One of the very things she’s a master at was staying calm in not so peaceful scenarios. When she looked back down at Barbie it surprised the overlord to see her tears being wiped away. This really did pull at what heart strings Carmine had for poor sinners who lived in poverty such as the short imp. Her motherly instincts kick in and Carmilla gently embraced the hellborn as they remained hiding in that closet downstairs.

            Barbie was a little shocked at the idea that Carmilla wanted to help her. To sinners, overlords and other non-hellborns, people like her didn't mean anything to them. So the fact that Carmilla not only risked her own safety to help her escape the exterminators, but was also willing to help her get out of the rut she was stuck in... it almost didn't feel real.
            
            "I-I... I don't know what to say... thank you. I've never had anyone offer to help me like that before." Barbie reached up to wipe away the tears starting to form in her eyes. Maybe things would be turning around after all.
            
            "So... looks like we're going to be stuck in here for a while, huh?"
