OKAY LISTEN UP PEEPS.
I don't celebrate Christmas, and I'm gonna tell you why.
In my culture, we celebrate Cialanagh. Conpletely outdated with barely any info online, so I'm here to educate.
When you come of age (aged 14) you receive your first Gaelic Lucker, or Gaelic Good Luck Charm. We learn how to craft and draw this as children, and is invalid when someone under 14 draws or makes it.
If you ever lost your lucker after age 14 and before Cialanagh, it brings devastating luck instead. If you were to tell someone you've lost it, they can then make one for you. The downfall is that if you lose that one before Cialanagh, it also brings the maker bad luck Example: my great auntie lost hers last week and told no one, and then she fell off a ladder and broke her leg.
Cialanagh begins on the 10th of December and ends on the 29th of December. We give gifts, and Cialanagh translates to "Horn of life" which is fitting, as we give our neighbours a cornucopia on the last day.
Today, my Cialanagh was remade, and I am now recognised as an elder of the Gaelic community.
THIS IS NOT A RELIGION.
Any question, feel free to message or reply.
Thanks peeps.
