I've been reading a lot of regulus fanfic lately, and so I'm curious why everyone, or at least a large portion of fic authors thinks, or uses the idea that Voldermort hid that he was a halfblood? Like...how? His first followers were all infamous purebloods, who would have known he was a halfblood considering they literally went to school with him and his last name is kinda a dead ringer for not being pureblood, but the descendant of Salzaar Slytherin and it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together and realize he was from the Gaunt family. Or much effort to realize who Tom's dad was, especially since there is a whole family with his exact name in a town not too far from where the Gaunts lived.

          	Not to mention in the forth book when he orders his followers to his father's grave on this specific night during this specific time, he doesn't actually have to specify where that is. They apparate to the grave (without being summoned by the Dark Mark). The grave of a literal muggle. So they all clearly knew he wasn't a pureblood. I always just assumed his direct ancestry to Salzaar Slytherin and his being a parseltongue, along with his sheer power was what attracted the purebloods to him-along with his hatred of muggles as a rule-and that he was willing to go with the purebloods desire to eliminate Muggleborns (or at the very least put heavy restrictions on them) as a reward for helping him.

@Amethyst_Atherton we know he finds out he is the heir either fifth or sixth year, and by then he already has a huge following among the purebloods, so clearly, despite his being a halfblood, he was able to amass his following out of power, and charm, alone

@Bangtanarmy581 I totally agree. I think Voldemort hatred of muggles and his power would have overshadowed his heritage. And his pureblood heritage would have offset it. I mean, the heir of Slytherin? Who cares if he's a half blood, he's the bloody heir of Slytherin. And a Parseltongue.

I feel like so many people don't actually get that emotional neglect...is abuse. You are still abusing your kid if you are neglecting them, or emotionally failing them. I see so many people in a wide variety of fandoms that I've been in over the years say oh this character can't possibly be abusive, look at all he stuff they buy this...enter secondary character. Whether parent to kid, lover to lover, sibling to sibling, And In my head I am just like...people know that is a very common abuse cycle right? When you are emotionally abused especially but also any other form of it, the abuser will often buy you gifts to make you feel like what they did is not that bad, and to make up for whatever it is they did. Whether that is physical, or emotional, or mental. If the abuser feels they went 'too far' and is at risk of loosing you, they will try to make up for it, and one of the main ways they do that is by bombing you with these outlandish and expensive gifts as a 'oh look at how much i love you, look at what i bought you'. But never actually say sorry, or never actually fix what they did. Knowingly degrading, demeaning, or implying that someone is less than because they did not meet these specific markers (whether it be grades, sports, personal achievements or capabilities) can contribute, and is usually a part of, emotional abuse.

          So yeah, some of these characters are abusive. They just dont smack their victim around. They are still, however, abusive.
          And emotional abuse is hard to prove, which means they typically, both in real life and out, will get away with it. It also causes this whiplash and can cause real resentment and hatred, along with a codependency and desperation for approval...

          still abuse.

          Also, if you don't like the content of the story...back out the story. No need to hound me about how I'm writing this character because YOU don't think they should act some way. Its fanfiction. Get over it.

@Amethyst_Atherton sadly that is true. I can't believe there are still people who don't see emotional abuse, as abuse. Or neglect, as abuse. They are all abuse, just different forms of it. Someone can have all the monetary gains in the world, and still be emotionally abused by their parents.

@DebraQuinn The sad thing is that a lot of abusers are also well liked in a community as well, so that can make it doubly difficult

@Bangtanarmy581 I've always thought that emotional abuse was then physical, because its harder to see. Its not the same as a bruise, that you can show to someone and say " Look! They hurt me!". A lot of mental illnesses get ignored and pushed aside.

If the end to a story is bad, or seems rushed, it is because I frankly, no longer had the inspiration to write it, wanted to finish it, and gave an ending that at the very minimum tied together the plot and that's it. If you don't like it I don't really know what to tell you other than be glad that there was an ending at all.

@Bangtanarmy581
            I'm happy that you wrote the endings instead of just leaving it unfinished, it is quite annoying when you find a good story that hasn't been updated in years. So thanks for writing the endings even if it's rushed :)

Heya sorry for the long interim, but unfortunately don't expect it to be over just yet. My dearest is still getting yanked back and forth for weeks at a time, and I'm alone with my sweetness (my precious little one) who is about to start walking around on her own footies. We will also be moving soon, so there will be a lot going on all at once soon enough.
          But...enjoy the updates as you get them
