Barclay Bagshot (b. 1723) is a Scottish author, historian, and artificer. He is most renowned as the author of beloved children's books, such as Toadstool Tales and The Merry Adventures of Muggle Mark and his Men of Mischief. Bagshot is the only known owner of a sapient Self-writing Quill, affectionately named Homer, which assists him in his craft.

Shaken by the death of his famous great-niece Bathilda in 1997, Bagshot left the public eye and entered hermitage. Recently, rumours started surrounding his return to writing and publishing historical memoirs.
