Hello everyone who follows From Night On. I've taken more time in between writing these stories as I've moved to Wales and began my postgrad in ancient history. I'm starting to find a balance and flow with writing my thesis and have been able to return to writing the next addition to the From Night On series: Echoes. I hope I didn't lose any of you and/or to bring some back.

For those who might find these books offensive to their religious beliefs, I would like to remind you that I am writing fiction wrapped around some truth, but I understand the existential crisis of having deeply held beliefs questioned. Part of why I write about these things and challenge everyone to suspend our beliefs for a moment is to draw a circle around just how easy it is to manipulate stories about things we couldn't possibly know for fact. As Aristotle said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it," but I will admit that there have been so many thrilling times, as I finish a chapter or daydream about what's to come next with our characters, that the words "What If..." come into play in such an exciting way: "What if what I'm writing is true?" Oh, how fantasy can be so much fun.

I have no doubt that some of my writing will be controversial. The overlying theme of From Night On is, "What if the ancient Gods were real?" to start with, but then followed a cascade of different imaginative wanderings. "What if Atlas was a hero and not a villain, as described in Greco-Roman mythology? What if what we know of the Gods from ancient beliefs were, in part, manipulated to make the villains the heroes?" I'm sure none of that sounds all too controversial, but then I introduce a character and a big "What If...?" "What If" Jesus never existed? What if Mary Magdalene was the actual worker of miracles and sage who came to save humanity? If that was the case then why would it be that we still have the story of Jesus and Mary Magdalene as a side character who was characterized as a prostitute from a sixth century sermon by Pope Gregory?

There have been many theories about this transition, even some supporting the claim that Jesus never existed. I'm not here to support or deny, but to follow the musings in a fantastical way, including many more Gods from traditions around the globe. I've been enjoying writing about the concepts of reincarnation, immortality, remembering past lives, and meeting others we've shared those past lives with, especially the romance of two soulmates who sacrifice their immortality to become forever locked in the cycle of life and death as protectors of the veil that protects mankind from the capricious Gods who would enslave them or worse.

Has anyone been catching the "What If...?" episodes for the Marvel Universe on Disney+? I hope you have because they have been really fun and I've been enjoying the kind of retrospective creativity. I always have. Marvel and DC have been doing this for longer than I've been reading comic books. "What If...?" and "Elseworlds" have been that extra icing on the comic book cake for me for so long, like the Elseworld where Batman was a samurai in feudal Japan or when Stan Lee did his own single issue version of Green Lantern. They were always a fun little side break from the norm and into something new and exciting with a little bit of familiarity.

I'm sharing this because this "What If...?" perspective has always been a part of how I've processed my roundabout attempt at understanding the human experience, society, and religion. Without any scientific method of exploring how things might have gone differently, if, say, major religious figures had been someone else or never existed at all, we are left to our own imaginings. I love exploring these ideas as it also offers me a glimpse into the cultures such figures would have existed in. The "What if..." is followed with, "... then why would this be..." if history still continued the path that leads up to now, and that's where I begin my research.

I've been working on book 6 of the From Night On series and just posted the first two chapters. I'm currently working on chapter 11, so I'll post the others soon. If you enjoy action, romance, adventure, mythology, and historical fiction, I'm happy to begin sharing From Night On: Echoes.

Nearing completion of From Night On: Magdalene and it is currently holding nothing less than a spot among the top 5% in every category attached to it: philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, mythology, adventure, and fictional history. I know this is bound to be a rather controversial read, but I'm so excited to read comments and reviews. I've already had to explain to someone that this is a work of fiction, so, please, don't take it too seriously.
