Travel is in my blood. I was born in Durban and as well as South Africa I have lived in Canada, England, Greece and for the last twenty years in France. I have had a dozen novels published (Cold War and other thrillers) and have just put a collection of short stories (To El and Back) on Kindle. To satisfy my roaming instinct I have set my novels and stories in locations all over the world: France and England of course, but also in countries behind the Iron Curtain (when that existed) and South and Central America and Africa and southeast Asia...

My first job was as a hardware salesman in South Africa. Then after university in England I was a teacher in a French lycée for a year. I followed that by a stint as a copywriter in London. I saved up my money and spent six months on a Greek island where I wrote my first novel. Of course it was unpublished but I did sell the film rights which encouraged me.

My wife and I live in a mellow stone house in a small French village where we have created a lovely garden. So travel and gardening are my passions along with cooking. Friends love coming to dinner with us.
