When I was a teenaged Beatlemaniac in the Sixties, I kept myself company during a lonely year in Paris by writing fan fiction, though I didn't know what it was at the time - romantic stories about my imaginary, passionate love affair, and later my marriage and sex life, with Paul McCartney. That amazing year, 1964-65, is brought to life in my new book "All My Loving: Coming of Age with Paul McCartney in Paris."

In my twenties, I worked as a professional actress and then became a writer and teacher of writing. I've taught memoir writing at Ryerson University for 20 years and at University of Toronto for seven, and recently was given U of T's Excellence in Teaching Award.

Besides "All My Loving," I'm also the author of "True to Life: 50 steps to help you tell your story," a concise compilation of my teaching about how to write memoir, based on my courses.
