1. Well, essentially, I start by thought-dumping. It’s basically where for like a week or two I just write down any dialogue or events that pop into my head before going into any sort of plot.
2. I go into a more puzzle piece kind of phase where I plot out only the important points in the plot and subplots.
3. I go into a more detailed phase where I open a google doc and lengthen each plot point into its own mini story of sorts, making sure to integrate any thought-dump ideas I liked. I still don’t use a lot of detail, but I include things like key events and dialogue, or descriptions I don’t want to forget.
4. I connect the mini, not very detailed stories into one cohesive narrative
5. I begin writing the actual story. I include more detail and really stretch it out, but try not to add any filler. And with that the process is complete.
I’m talking about this like some expert, but this is just the plan I laid out for myself.
