I seem to have fallen, by degrees and without much sensible intention, into writing.

For which I've clung to it without much tried cause - a certain adventurous waywardness, and the occasional bit of cocky mischief; though I should be sorry indeed to be thought of as wanting in kindness, for that, at least, has a habit of lingering about me, though not always in manner.
