Am I the only one getting those "visual artists" comments on my stories, wanting to turn my work into a comic or collaborate?
I mean, don't get me wrong, my favourite part of Wattpad was the opportunity to find other writers and artists and spark one another's inspos. I miss that a lot, I miss having a community ( the forums were a good time for me) And everyone from my community has kind of fallen apart and gone their own way.
But if anyone else is getting these comments, please be careful. People will use this to steal your work. I don't know for sure, but I had fallen for it with someone who even had an art gallery down in Vancouver. Next thing I know, Elemental Witch part one ( the part I sent her when she offered to help edit) was on Amazon being sold under a different name.
People and companies prey off our desire to have our works read. Just like there are "editing" and "publishing" companies that charge authors thousands for "packages", eating off of our hope of breaking out of the void, there are people out there trying to catch you unawares.
If I had the capability, I would try to build a community that would allow us to flourish together, but I find that like my writing, my voice gets lost in the grey murk of the rest of the noise. Stay safe out there and I wish everyone all the inspiration and literary enjoyment, whatever it may be.
What I'm reading now:
Unbury the Bones
Flourish
Great myths of Popular psychology
The Angel of Indian Lake
Love you all. Drop me a line if you want!
