I hope everyone is doing well, and I wish you the best this holiday season, whatever you are celebrating. There is a lot of ugly in the world, but it is my sincere hope that you see and experience the beautiful in ways that outweigh the rest.

Do you have time off to read ? Or is this a busy season for you?

Oathbreaker, for those who are following, is going to be updating three times a week until it is finished, with some bonus chapters posted on Yule/Winter Solstice. After a bit of a break for my brain ( I wrote 50k + words in November, did three research papers, five final exams this past month - I think I passed it all though) I hope to start editing my next offering to get it posting on a schedule as well.

Again, all the best to everyone into the new year.

The rewrite for Oath breaker is done!

I'm going to be editing it and then setting up a schedule for releasing the rest of it, on an expedited format ( multiple times per week) now that I've finished.
And then next... I have been thinking about starting Elemental Thief Part 2 in the new year, if there's interest in that. Part 1 has reached over 10k reads, which is very cool.

Love you all, wish you all well!

@ThoughtfulCapybara you are too kind! Thank you so much. One of the reasons i write is because i have a hard time finding strong female mcs! It means so much that it reaches you!

@BksbyBkr Your Elemental Witch + Thief series is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever read—and that includes mainstream print fiction. It’s honestly one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Wattpad. Your strong female leads are spot on & I hope you keep them that way. I know life can get in the way, but please know there are many of us out here, eagerly waiting for it.

So Wattpad is beta-testing polls in stories now.
Not sure how many authors have access to them, but I've added them to a couple of chapters in Oathbreaker just to play along. I have been having more luck writing in the last couple of days. (yay me)
I need to finish Oathbreaker. It's more a project as a gift for someone who reads the hard copy prints I do, than anything else. But I'm hoping that I continue to make progress. ( maybe even finish by Christmas to give it to them as a gift)
Then... well, I turned my Swordkeeper omnibus into a "series" ( Elemental Witch & Thief) cause that's an option now on Wattpad, so I may continue with that.

          Current reads:
And Then She fell - Alicia Elliot
          Diplomacy - Henry Kissinger
a bunch more for my university courses on feminist international relations.

          How's everyone else doing?

@BksbyBkr the poll thing looks awesome! I don't have access yet looking forward to it!

Am I the only one getting those "visual artists" comments on my stories, wanting to turn my work into a comic or collaborate?

I mean, don't get me wrong, my favourite part of Wattpad was the opportunity to find other writers and artists and spark one another's inspos. I miss that a lot, I miss having a community ( the forums were a good time for me) And everyone from my community has kind of fallen apart and gone their own way.

But if anyone else is getting these comments, please be careful. People will use this to steal your work. I don't know for sure, but I had fallen for it with someone who even had an art gallery down in Vancouver. Next thing I know, Elemental Witch part one ( the part I sent her when she offered to help edit) was on Amazon being sold under a different name.

People and companies prey off our desire to have our works read. Just like there are "editing" and "publishing" companies that charge authors thousands for "packages", eating off of our hope of breaking out of the void, there are people out there trying to catch you unawares.

If I had the capability, I would try to build a community that would allow us to flourish together, but I find that like my writing, my voice gets lost in the grey murk of the rest of the noise. Stay safe out there and I wish everyone all the inspiration and literary enjoyment, whatever it may be.

          What I'm reading now:
          Unbury the Bones
          Flourish
          Great myths of Popular psychology
          The Angel of Indian Lake

Love you all. Drop me a line if you want!

@packersgray Uhm. No thanks. If book clubs want to read my works, they can definitely go ahead without any interaction from myself, using Wattpad.

Does my writing take itself too seriously?
          Should it?

My most successful book, Sinfully Delicious was written as tongue in cheek and didn't take itself seriously at all. Until making it into a series meant I needed to have a purpose for it.

Been toying with the thought of cozy-fantasy lately, as most of my more grandiose writings seem to fizzle out in the "enjoyment" side of things long before I finish the story.

I dunno. What are your thoughts?

BksbyBkr

@Robin2nite Aw you are so kind and I thank you for your support! :)
I'm just trying to come up with thoughts on where I want to go next.

@shree_402 That's the thing! a nice cozy non serious book may be easier for me to write, or more fun... something to bring the joy back

@BksbyBkr Each true author has a style that is hard to change, even when they want to. Your novels/stories have a rhythm that is uniquely yours and that is one of the draw cards of readers to your stories. Explore other ways but don't feel that you have to or need to totally your style. I am an avid reader of your works and I am willing to read and to follow in which ever way you go.

Hello everyone!

Happy Black History month! I have some recommended reads on my profile of stories I found to be great gems here on Wattpad if you are looking for something to read and writers to support.

Off of Wattpad my current reads are:
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen ( about 41% through - contemporary romance / fiction that I'm really starting to eat up)
We're going to need more Wine - by Gabrielle Union ( Biography / Memoir - I really love how she crafts her lived experience, she's honest and funny and informative. I'm really loving this one (92% through) )
Disability Visibility - Edited by Alice Wong ( essays- 38 % through, but I'm really finding a lot of new voices, talking about intersectionality and moving through a world not made for them. It really challenges the common thread we see in society.)

          What I'm writing:

          1) A new fantasy I'm trying out. I'm a few chapters in - it's a bit of a mystery too, plus a little bit of romance. One main character is from a matriarchal land that is egalitarian and nature-focused, but she's on the run from a Duke of another country, throwing her into the oddities of a patriarchal society with hierarchies and no gender equality. Plus, there's another female character, who's falling in love with a charming Duke. And there's yet another female character who is trapped in a fog of amnesia, trying to figure out who and where she is.
I'm not sure if I'll post it on Wattpad yet. I'm just writing for the sake of writing right now. For my birthday a few weeks ago, I got an e-ink tablet ( OnyxBoox Note 4c) and it has really helped me write . It also allows me to read from various apps on an e-ink format too! ( if you ever wanted to read your Wattpad reads in an e-reader format, it can download your wattpad app and allow you to do that! 100% loving it so far.

Anyways. I hope everyone is doing well! Let me know what you're reading right now! Love you all!
