Hey guys, itās been a while but Iāve got some news that I wanna share.
For all of yāall active Wattpad people, you probably already know about novelHD, the plagiarizing site that steals Wattpad authorsā works and puts them on their site. I have only found out literally yesterday (since I donāt come here that often anymore) but for those of you who didnāt know (like me), now you know.
Now I donāt really know how to prevent this from happeningābut chances are, if your story is popular, then itās likely already on the site.
Iāve seen a petition for it to be taken down, some subreddits about it, but overall, Iām not sure about what a normal person like myself can do about it except spread the news.
So, because Wattpad has always had a major plagiarising problemāboth within and outside of the domaināIām seriously considering changing onto platforms that are more secure and trustworthy.
Itās true, that writing and publishing online always has its risks and itās issuesāmore of the innocent ones being beginner writers who donāt understand that stealing works/ideas is bad, and some of the worse ones being things like novelHDābut at this point, Wattpad doesnāt seem to have done much to prevent things like this from happening.
So, stay safe everyone. Consider changing platforms to keep the integrity of your stories, and hopefully, one day, Wattpad will be safe enough for people to write without worry.
