I wouldnt have even been mad if they made the cgi look more like it COULD be real. The lego movie didnt use real lego but they went to the effort of creating a whole program to make it look as authentic as possible

Im usually against heal face turns but i am not against team magma and aqua being redeemed because i think their characterisation as stupid instead of evil is interesting and kind of accurate to (at least their most well intentioned) real world equivalents. They were still callous and cruel and willing to hurt a lot of life in order to achieve their goals but they truly did think the ends justified the means

Also instead of just summoning their respective legendaries to do their dirty work aqua summons kyogre believing its a benevolent god only to be surprised when unleashing a huge cranky whale on the ocean DOESNT lead to it having a tea partt with the other fishies and instead causes chaos bc thats what a real wild animal does. Meanwhile team magma only want to use groudon as a means to an end so they try to capture it to harness its power, causing it to lash out and begin ITS rampage
            
            Aqua learns that nature and pokemon and the ocean arent perfecr utopian pure things and that reality is more complicated and dangerous and magma learns that humans who try to play god dont tend to get happy endings

For the remakes i feel like the alpha and omega themes could have been woven much more seamlessly into their respective stories than this. Eg: team aqua wants to return the world to when it was all sea because they believe its first state is its ‘natural’ and ‘purest’ state. Meanwhile team magma are accelerationists who believe that complete human take over of the planet is not only good but inevitable and want to get to that end point as soon as possible. It would certainly make more sense than world famous “im going to end the world. Oh no the world is ending!”

Anyone who uses terms like ‘freak’ and ‘pervert’ or invokes ‘purity culture’ or lgbtphobia instead of actually just stating what they did to make people call them a proshipper is 100% of the time drawing kiddie porn or incest when you check their blog. Every time without fail. If what they did wasn’t that bad they’d feel safe to voice it, especially among their own echo chamber in the proship tags right? But they don’t. Idk the idea of taking the shittest most bland and shallow evil team in the series and using it to actually explore cult tactics and the long term effects on survivors was really interesting and I was so excited for them to explore it and it’s just. Not come up again. They barely did owt with it.

You really got the sense in the original series watching jessie and james fight a tyranitar with their bare hands to save pokemon from a poacher that if someone told them ‘hey thats what your colleagues do. Like every day. En mass.’ They’d go ‘WHAT?!’ and quit on the spot. Cant rlly say that anymore

Sidenote ^ i think team rocket never fully recovered from unova (only mostly) is bc of the fact that their earlier antics worked because they had the privilege of ignorance. The TRio are saturday morning cartoon villains because they THINK thats what team rocket as an organisation IS. They genuinely dont know how bad team rocket actually is because they’re so shit at their job everyone forgets they’re still on the payroll and never tells them anything. Unova put them back in the loop and made them aware of the atrocities so even though its nice to see them return to their roots as lovable idiots in later seasons it’s never quite the same bc theres always that lurking question in the back of your mind. ‘If they know what team rocket truly do, why are they still working for them?’ They’ve gone from ignorantly supporting evil to knowingly doing so and either not caring or being wilfully ignorant. Both of which betray all of their characters

This game loves to almost be incredible and then fuck it up at the last hurdle, i think the reason the rust syndicate is so comically bad to me is that its the one plot point that didnt even have a chance of being good. The idea of a realistic mafia being dogooders is fundamentally flawed. Do gamefreak not know that the reason jessie james and meowth are so beloved is that 1: they’re ignorant of and 90% of the time acting independently from the majority of team rocket and 2: they LOSE. They do a bad thing and they get punished which whether SU stans believe it or not does not have to be a brutal murder lol

Some people think ‘intersectional’ just means a hierarchy with more tiers than originally thought. If intersectional to you means ‘the social relationship between race and gender is actually black women < black men < white women < white men’ and not ‘the relationship between race and gender had a messy history and society reinforces oppression of both groups in ways such that one can be both the oppressor and the oppressed at different times or even at the same time depending on the situation’ you’re sound 16 idk what to tell you

Actual women of colour i’ve seen talk about this have never taken this attitude in fact black women in particular report feeling more afraid in my experience. I think this is one of those things where white leftists new to the movement have coopted a very nuanced and intersectional conversation and parroted it in a very  unnuanced and ignorant way to try and virtue signal
