Nothing about this guy makes sense. On one hand hes super committed to helping others at a large time and monetary cost to himself but on the other he doesnt seem to actually gaf about any of his friends. Is he upset the MC is taking over his role as leader of team MZ in all but name or does he not even gaf to tell the team hes leaving in person? He outright states his main motivation for helping the city is to find his missing person but when given the chance to snap his fingers and have a huge corporation on it he refused and said hes handling it himself. Is he dedicated to helping everyone out of a sense of duty or does he have a selfish motive? Is he unwilling to burden others with his problems or does he care so little about his friends he has no remorse about how he treats them? Why was the guy whos only known financial decision was borrowing 10 thousand dollars off the mob to make a handful of shitty youtube videos no one watch put in charge of a major corporation?

Why would a guy who feels so indebted to a man just for housing him that he makes shady business deals and harasses tourists to make it up to him ALSO be so blasé about said shady business deals putting his friends and said man in danger? I thought when he didn't mention the business deals to the gang and played it cool when he was getting his phone blown up at the dinner table and then disappearing the next day that was setting him up as a person who doesnt want to burden others with his problems and make them worry. Someone who doesnt feel worthy of help or assistance and wants to keep everyone happy and handle his issues alone and that would be his character arc
            
            Then the story said ‘nah hes just dumb and irresponsible and doesnt gaf’

I wouldnt have even been mad if they made the cgi look more like it COULD be real. The lego movie didnt use real lego but they went to the effort of creating a whole program to make it look as authentic as possible

Im usually against heal face turns but i am not against team magma and aqua being redeemed because i think their characterisation as stupid instead of evil is interesting and kind of accurate to (at least their most well intentioned) real world equivalents. They were still callous and cruel and willing to hurt a lot of life in order to achieve their goals but they truly did think the ends justified the means

Also instead of just summoning their respective legendaries to do their dirty work aqua summons kyogre believing its a benevolent god only to be surprised when unleashing a huge cranky whale on the ocean DOESNT lead to it having a tea partt with the other fishies and instead causes chaos bc thats what a real wild animal does. Meanwhile team magma only want to use groudon as a means to an end so they try to capture it to harness its power, causing it to lash out and begin ITS rampage
            
            Aqua learns that nature and pokemon and the ocean arent perfecr utopian pure things and that reality is more complicated and dangerous and magma learns that humans who try to play god dont tend to get happy endings

For the remakes i feel like the alpha and omega themes could have been woven much more seamlessly into their respective stories than this. Eg: team aqua wants to return the world to when it was all sea because they believe its first state is its ‘natural’ and ‘purest’ state. Meanwhile team magma are accelerationists who believe that complete human take over of the planet is not only good but inevitable and want to get to that end point as soon as possible. It would certainly make more sense than world famous “im going to end the world. Oh no the world is ending!”
