Quick update, chapter is coming along but I'm in a pretty busy period of university rn. So it'll be awhile.

Okay here’s a funny line from Yugioh abridged you should absolutely have Kaiba say at one point because it is just so fitting for his character. “What do you mean don’t fly to close to the sun I’m gonna build a spaceship able to fly through the sun just to prove whoever said that wrong.”

@Ghostwolf2022 I'm probably not taking from the abridged series. As much as I respect LittleKuriboh and his work, I don't see any of its line reads being part of the story

My best advice for how to not have Duel Monsters completely takeover is have different games spaced in between the Duel Monsters arcs like maybe use the Filler arcs to experiment more. Like having the whole virtual world arc be centered around Capsule Monsters. Basically use the filler arcs as a way to introduce and have arcs set around completely different games in between the duel monsters arcs. You can leave the Final Shadow game mostly the same though since that arc really doesn’t center around Duel Monsters it’s a completely different game with a completely different set of rules. Have Duelist Kingdom and the Battle City Tournament be the only actual Duel Monsters arcs excluding Yugi and Atem’s final duel. Also fun fact depending on if Kaiba is present for that duel or not creates a whole different timeline. If Kaiba isn’t present it leads into Yugioh Vrains, if he is it leads into every other Yugioh series except maybe Sevens and Go Rush since the jury is still out on whether those are still canon to any timeline.

@Ghostwolf2022 I do have some plans for Bakura but nothing concrete yet

@BlossomingBlade also a fun idea for the first Shadow Game with Yami Bakura is that since Atem is the only one conscious he has to roll the dice for them while Yami Bakura acts as the Dungeon Master and everyone else are PCs. However unlike in the Millenium World arc the game isn’t completely immersive as Yugi, Moka, Kurumu, Yukari, Gin. And Joey (if he shows up in Pharaoh and a vampire) are able to hear and see Atem and Yami Bakura as well as hear them. Yami Bakura obviously using his dark magic to cheat and make Atem’s dice rolls hot ass in a bid to kill everyone. Also the first Yami Bakura Shadow Game would probably work best being structured as a One Shot TTRPG along the lines of Dungeons and Dragons or Call of Cthulhu. But I personally would lean a bit more towards Call of Cthulhu since it’s a much less forgiving RPG that would really up the stakes. Largely because you not only can die very easily but you also need to worry about your character’s sanity. Plus it kinda would fit the vibe of Yami Bakura’s first appearance, he’s a mystery who knows much more about everything going on than Yugi and everyone else does so a game with themes of horrors man was never meant to see or know about would just really set the vibe that Yami Bakura is an unknown and very dangerous character.

@BlossomingBlade it’s a weird trip but it’s a fun one. Kinda like how most people don’t really think about how the world of Pokémon revolves around Pokemon battles for the most part. Plus Card Games on motorcycles is way cooler than it has any right to be and I love it. As for the reasons why Kokoa would have such a huge crush on Seto, well he’s a self assured self made billionaire whose life philosophy is to always strive for excellence and perfection in all things and anything less isn’t worthy of him. A life philosophy Kokoa would absolutely try to live by. It would probably also partly why she hates Outer Moka seeing her as an anchor that drags her once perfect sister down.

Okay so I like the direction you’re going with Pharaoh and a Vampire. And I think I got an idea for what you’re going for with more inspiration from Season 0. An idea could be that Atem just starts as a psychopathic and straight up evil at times character but the more he interacts with Yugi the more he becomes like the Yami Yugi we know and love. But I think you should still maintain darker tone. Like say having Duelist Kingdom be a death game. Where anyone who loses just dies on the spot.

@Ghostwolf2022 Kaiba will be absolutely the same as he is depicted in the original Japanese anime and Manga. I don’t intend to cover filler material, but I'll consider it when I get along to planning the arcs involving Duel Monsters and the main Yugioh plot. And I fully intended to keep other games relevant beyond Duel Monsters. Having Yugi and co, explore other games allows for more interesting storytelling opportunities. Beyond that, I'm more focused on correctly setting up and adapting arcs from Rosario Vampire with Yugi's presence in mind and how he alters certain trajectories.

@BlossomingBlade Also here’s a thought have Waking the Dragons based around a completely different game than Duel Monsters. You could even easily explain it as Atlantis not playing by the same rules as Egypt and unlike Egypt they didn’t dabble in Dark Magic. Rather in Atlantis their version of Duel Monsters could’ve been more like Pokémon (the video game not the TCG) . You catch monsters, you level them up, they evolve, and you battle with them against other monster tamers.

@BlossomingBlade As long as Seto Kaiba stays the same his Duel Monsters incarnation. Seriously Kaiba is just the best. He’s egotistical and obsessive but goddamn he just has the best sense of presentation. I get the whole wanting to not give Duel Monsters too much attention since it literally took over the story in the manga. But when it does come up an idea is to while it has to be a mainstay have other various games appear. Like the first encounter with Yami Bakura is a smaller version of the Final Shadow game in that he’s having everyone play a TTRPG. Or have the first encounter with Bandit Keith with Yami Yugi be a game of Russian Roulette.
