MY FRIEND DID ALL OF THIS RESEARCH
I JUST COPIED IT OVER TO HERE

Here are several reasons not to panic about Trump’s executive order to declare that gender-affirming care for youth is “mutilation”.

If you are panicking, please listen to me.:

          	1. EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE NOT LAWS.
The president can declare anything they want, but they cannot punish you or your doctors. The most concrete thing the order says to do is that the cabinet will write a big fancy report dictating how to go forward sometime in the next six weeks. Things won’t change overnight.

          	2. MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS ARE RUN BY SANE PEOPLE.
Among the things the order says to do is to pressure medical institutions. By what way? By trying really really hard to convince them. They cannot cut the funding, because doing that would cripple the entire country, and many of these are international institutions. Also, medical institutions will NEVER listen to RFK Jr. Mark my words.

          	3. A CRIPPLED GOVERNMENT CANNOT CARRY OUT ORDERS.
Trump seems to think that he can snap his fingers and things will get done, but that is not how America works. Also, remember that Trump has essentially gutted the entire Executive branch by firing a ridiculous amount of government employees. Any resulting changes will be slow, costly, and bumbling. One cannot cut off someone’s arms and legs and then expect them to build a house.

          	4. INSURANCE POLICY CHANGES SLOWLY.
One of the actually concerning things in this order is to fuck with insurance providers that are government-tied. However, insurance policy is notoriously slow, messy, and filled with red tape. In fact, the order only wants these changes to take effect NEXT YEAR. We have tons of time to prepare for insurance changes, and tons of time to resist this craziness.

In summary, while this order sounds scary, it will turn out to be mostly bullshit in practice. Feel free to share this with your other trans friends!!!

@Blue_Foods_only this is a very sane-person pov of this and I totally agree. But the reason why it’s so scary is that no one seems to care it’ll cripple or destroy anything. I’ve distanced myself from MOST politics over the past few weeks but I’ve searched through a few things and it’s still hella scary
