My name is Bong Baylon. I'm a thought leader and communicator. I'm also the person behind Leading Your Self, a blog and podcast that I created for the purpose of encouraging and teaching self-leadership to others. I'm passionate about leadership because I know leadership really matters. My life, training, and vocation centers upon leadership. But there is a particular kind of leadership that I know matters more than anything else, and that is "Leading Your Self."

Most people fail in leadership as well as in life and in relationships because they fail to lead themselves. Companies and organizations fail because people inside of them - regardless whether they are formal leaders or not - fail to lead themselves. Churches and ministries fail because of people who refuse to lead themselves first. Even whole countries can fail when they are led by people who cannot lead themselves. Many people suffer because they are surrounded or influenced by people who fail in self-leadership. The consequences are high. Replacing people who have failed to lead themselves can be financially crippling. (Read this article) When people fail to lead themselves, a lot of people suffer.

Leading yourself is not natural. You have to be intentional about it. Our natural tendency is to drift toward passivity when it comes to this area of our lives. We couldn't care less. But the truth is that we have to learn and practice self leadership consistently in order to develop credibility. Credibility is the foundation of any kind of influence. In other words, leading yourself is the beginning of all true leadership.

Follow my blog and podcast or invite me to speak at your events in order to learn how to lead yourselves better.
