these are fragments of my identity you'll use to piece together whoever i am to your liking. go ahead. some days it feels like they're all that i am, as the tendrils of my past sink its claws into the fabric and space of the present. but i know i am all of these and more:

i sing.
i write poetry.
i'm trying to write songs again.
i take photos of nature and friends.
i like the way the wind feels against my face when i bike down the street.
i dream of trans liberation, trans beauty, trans joy.
i cling on to my lovelessness in the absence of love.

and sometimes that's enough. i know that's enough, even if i forget the way the words feel upon my tongue, upon my skin, within my veins, on certain days. they always find their way back to me, after all.

let this page be a reminder that whoever and wherever you are, you will find what you need someday; a lover, a friend, a sanctuary. a home.

it's okay if you're running from something- i am too. and i know we have what it takes to get out; as long as you do too.

in the mean time, this can be your safe space. stay a while. drink some water. read a poem or two. maybe you'll find something that resonates with you. maybe not. but either way, if you've gotten anything from what i have to offer - it's enough.

let's remind each other that it's enough.

/james baldwin once said 'perhaps home is not a place but simply an irrevocable condition.' i'm just trying to carry on his legacy for as long as i can./
