I liked Wattpad because it was one of the only apps were you could read funny, romantic, sad, scary, etc books and you didn’t have to pay for anything. Now every other book I would like to read has locked chapters I have to pay for

understanding of the hurtful power of that word came years ago when I had the opportunity to spend more than a year reporting on people with intellectual disabilities. What I found, quickly, was some of the most amazing, capable, kindhearted souls I've ever known, and when I asked the people I got to know about the R-word, they patiently explained that it makes them feel like something less than everyone else.
And that's unacceptable to me. It's degrading. It's dehumanizing.
It's wrong.

It’s brave of you to come onto my page and say such sweet words but honey it still doesn’t change my opinion, I know what mentally retarded people have to go through because my cousin is and she calls people it too all the damn time and I help the people at my school that have mentally issues and in fact I’ve talked to them about it to, they say that they don’t really care because they know they are smart and strong and they feel like a person just like everyone else in the word. Their normal people. So treat them like it. People like you that sit there and pity them are what makes them feel unspecial, people like you are the reason they have to doubt themselves.

And I will not sit here and let you pity them as if they aren’t just like you are, they are normal people and the word retarded is just another word that they always use and they say to other people as well. I don’t know where you’re from but it’s different I’m from because we treat each other like equals. No one in their right mind would ever say that to someone who actually has mental issues.
