If I am re-writing one of my stories based on grammar edits and feedback is it better to take down the previous version on here (and lose the views and votes), edit in the story itself, or leave the old one up and create a brand new one explaining it is the updated version?

To say The Balance has been in progress for a long time would be an understatement. I began drafting this story by writing it the good old-fashioned way in a journal in 2015. I had some lofty idea that I would write it all the way through, mistakes and all, in this journal. That did not last long.

The story in that journal had the same premise, and the characters were all the same, but their relationships were quite different, and the ending was not at all close to what it ended up being. I returned to this story many times over the past 10 years, finally writing the ending in June 2023. I still felt that I couldn't bring myself to share it. I have been lucky to achieve a lot of my dreams in life. I am a teacher, a wife, and a mom (to dogs and a human baby). The only goal that remains for now is to become a published author. When my best friend passed away unexpectedly a year ago, it made me realize things I want to do while I can. Also, during the months of therapy that followed, it became clear there were not a lot of things I honestly did for myself. Even things I look forward to or enjoy usually revolve around my family and my friends. Writing is the one thing I do for myself, aside from playing The Sims. I have decided that perhaps I should be brave and share the characters I have come to love so much with the world. Finally, after 10 long years, my story has come to light, and I am excited to share it with you.

          With much love and gratitude,
          Brearose10.
