Hi, I'm Breezy

Justin Clooney and the Door to India is my debut novel.

I write stories for the kids who don't quite fit the box - and for the adults who still remember what that felt like.

In middle and high school, I felt tremendous pressure to be the quote, perfect version of what a girl was supposed to be. That pressure led me to anorexia. What helped me find my way out were stories - stories that reminded me gender isn't black and white, and that being yourself is where the real magic lives.

By day, I'm a wildlife biologist. I study real animals and then turn them into magical ones on the page.

Like two overgrown pirates, my husband and I once sold our home, bought a sailboat, and sailed to Mexico - and then twenty-one days across the Pacific to Hawaii. Now we live with our son and dog in a small beach town in California.

I believe young people deserve stories that tell them they are already enough.
