@The_Fairy_King I like their originality and talent too.. That's why they're unique. But yeah, it is leaning towards basic pop. There isn't a need, you're right! I find auto-tune to be robotic or just weird sounding. It takes away feeling.
Yeah, would Freddie approve the video? I think not. I don't think he'd let anyone auto-tune his vocal from 73, either, if he were around. I don't know much about producing music, so even if it was just the sound and not auto-tune, it would still be leaning towards unoriginal. He would've probably loved young artists making the video too (I think Brian would too, considering the "Bri-Art" stuff - not sure how he let this happen, or if he has a say..)
I agree on your views of the merch too. Some of it IS good, like I almost got the "I Want It All" design shirt, but I wasn't super enthusiastic for it enough for the price (I'm American so shipping from the UK is ridiculous and with $30+-$40 shirts, it's not great).
My other issue with the merch is how Freddie-centered it is. I know he's amazing (but so are the rest of the band) and many's favourite.. But they use the same pictures of him and it's boring. I'd love more Roger stuff. Or them as a band (but even some of that new stuff is ugly). If they wanted to be newer, the could do more BoRhap movie stuff, maybe! (But they know how controversial that movie is)
It sometimes feels like, with this weird merch (but again, some works like "The Works" cover on a shirt) and random remixes, that someone's just trying to keep making money? Like, dude, people will still buy Queen stuff without them trying to always make a profit. A skateboard deck? A water bottle? A freaking umbrella! Really. Some seems irrelevant.
Really sad to see a great band do this. But again, I don't think it's all Bri and Rog. They're pretty smart.
