Insatiable reader and espresso addict. Musician, journalist, idealist, simultaneous humanist/misanthrope. Plays the guitar not often enough. Hurts people's ears with his singing. Writes too much.
Biggest loves: excellent lattes, snow-tipped mountains, sapphire glaciers, furry animals, music, books I'm compelled to read in the bathtub, dogs, worldbuilding
Biggest fears: mediocrity, stinging insects, and homonym errors.
Credibility:
I have BA in English with a dual emphasis in writing and literature. I am a semi-professional writer and journalist who has published hundreds of short stories, news articles, creative non-fiction essays, and more. I have also worked as an editor or associate editor for The Pinyon (literary journal), the Zodiac Review, Rock and Ice Magazine, and (currently) my local newspaper, Seward City News.
Tip of the hat to my influences:
Patrick Rothfuss, Iain M. Banks, Dave Eggers, John Updike, N.K. Jemisin, Kazuo Ishiguro, Colson Whitehead, Joe Abercrombie, Michael Chabon, Yann Martel, Anthony Doerr, Hugh Howey
Does I really have to mention?:
J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen King, George R.R. Martin, Roald Dahl, Michael Crichton, Toni Morrison, Ursula K. Le Guin
