@naggywaggy oooo good question! thats a bit of a hard one. I love to write less serious, comedy (typically high school settings) and a the occasional horror/thriller probably the most! Of course when I want to write for something I typically love the movie/series already!
I enjoy watching mocumentaries (such as the what we do in the shadows) and although I would love to write for it the fourth wall breakage and length (of the series) can be quite tricky!
longer trilogies (such as Lord of the rings) and longer more complicated setting series (such as tokyo revengers which has alot of time skips/time jumps)
Although I have thought of a character/a (name) to go in each but the scenes Id need to use for those are few and far between meaning Id need to write the LONG scenes of nothing changing for it to make sense which I get bored of really quickly! So instead I kinda end up doing the old fashioned imagine a story in my head while contemplating it.
a PRIME example, and one that would probably answer your question the best, is crime dramas. I LOVE law and order and criminal minds, I enjoy watching the episodes but:
1. theyre both quite long (the episodes are near an hour and Law and order is still making episodes)
2. Filled with SO MUCH filler and dialogue, which is great and super interesting to watch but REALLY boring to write and read.
But in all honesty if I could write for everything I enjoy I probably would, its mostly about the time and complication. I have a (Name) for criminal minds who very much is in writing (it was the first fic I ever started writing so it needs some work) but I got so bored of all the long dialogue scenes that if I ever did happen to get the motivation to write for it again I would FOR SURE cut all the long scenes out!
