@Hrllburst I'm happy you saw that. That would make a lot more sense. I spoke with a friend yesterday and they were wondering if this is an algorithm thing. Idk for sure, but it feels pretty personal. I think wattpad really wants to get rid of me.
I think there can definitely be a case made. When I send my counter notification, I'm going to answer the questions as I see fit and not give any personal info (they seem to require it, but it's a pretty one sided exchange, and I don't feel safe telling them where I live)(just the fact that they're requiring that is another sign of them believing they're entitled to that information). Either way, it's likely they're going to rule in favor of themselves and terminate my account anyway. Maybe I could speak with a lawyer or talk with a writers union and see what can be done on my end.
The other issue is I'm not going to get anything out of this if it's properly resolved. If this doesn't become a court matter, wp will either let me keep my account or terminate it, and that will be it. I have to defend myself and my livelihood against them, I get nothing for it, and if they by some chance drop the whole thing, things just go back to the way they were, where they keep making money off of my stories, your stories, everyone's, and we get nothing. And I guess forget about promoting a Patreon, because I've been doing it on here for over a year and it hasn't changed anything.
This isnt goodbye, but for the time being, don't be surprised if my account suddenly disappears again. And if that does happen, I wish you all the luck in the world.
If you wanna find me, I'm on YouTube and SoundCloud where I at least have the first seven chapters of the Maid for a Month audiobook up (I know at least some small creators that are making an income from promoting their Patreon accounts in their youtube videos), and I've been planning to set up on other lit sites.
