Hey guys! So today, I was really in the mood to read Jelsa fanfics (Jack Frost x Elsa) as a Jelsa Shipper tends to do at least on occasion and I discovered in the comments of a very great fanfic a lot of hate towards another of my OTPs.

Now, normally, I wouldn’t bother concerning myself with this kind of thing at all. People ARE entitled to their own opinions. But I can’t deny that I am disappinted at the large amount of blatant hate from readers of that fanfic towards Hiccstrid. First off, Hiccup and Astrid were written to be pretty much soulmates from the very first movie and throughout the entire franchise, and they have always been great together. I am APALLED by how hateful people have been of that canon ship by saying stuff like calling Astrid child-UNFRIENDLY words and names and then later on during the story calling Hiccup similar names.
Let it be known, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH MERRICUP (Hiccup x Merrida) but the level of hate I have noticed was completely uncalled for.
Hiccup is a very respectable, kind, and responsible guy. I believe in said fanfiction the author wrote him as returning with astrid because of the mitigating circumstances and because he had still not yet fully let go of Astrid in his heart. I choose to RESPECT the Author’s choices for HER story. Astrid, in the end, much like in the orginal franchise/series, was the wonderful, mature, and kind woman she was in Canon.
At least that is my belief and I respect the author GREATLY for making his/her own decisions about that part of the story regardless of all the incredibly PUSHY and borderling hateful and spiteful comments throughout the story debating between Merricup and Hiccstrid.
Sorry about the rant guys, I just needed to get that off of my chest.
