@ Browns_storybook It's just like reading the first chapter of an actual book or watching the first episode of a show — the first impression matters a lot if u either get compelled to continue or not. Whenever I personally appreciate the style of a writer and the first introduction to the characters in a fanfiction, I most likely continue reading. What matters to me is that the main structure of the characters that belong to someone else are as close to the original as possible. Whatever kind of plot or own characters the writer introduces to the fanfiction is of course the writer's choice. But if I get the feeling that I just don't see the personality and charm of the character of someone elses work, I don’t continue. I'm not talking about stealing or such, or copy and paste, but a fanfiction should somehow show an appreciation of the original work and have the spark of ur own creativity. It's like keeping the facade of a house, but still making it ur own
