I come in many names but here, I am Bushra. I write to find a piece of myself I often lose to become the persona my circumstances need me to be. Having you all join me in that journey by reading my work means the world to me.

- While I currently reside in the US, I lived most of my life in a country on the Horn of Africa.
- My work includes volumes of poetry, short stories and novels and thematically ranges from fantastical fiction to realistic work about women, people of color and decolonization.
- I'm a spoken word poet and enjoy mixing languages in my performances
- I am currently a student, also working to become a published author. In addition to creative writing, I'm interested in neuroscience and global healthcare.
- Two time Scholastic Art and Writing Award Recipient
- If you have made it this far along, I am also happy to share that, due to our collective state of quarantine, I have more time on my hands than I normally do and will be accepting read requests. The only catch is that you will have to have followed me and engaged (commented/voted) with at least one of my published work before making the request. I have experience editing for more than one literary magazine and will also be happy to provide constructive criticism if needed.
