          so obviously, there was a flashback chapter where we learn about Malia’s background. she grew up religious (even though malia didn’t believe and chose to be jewish like her mom)… she’s gay, and obviously the people in her church and her father didn’t like that. so when she met estefanía, they had to keep their relationship a secret. 
          
          when this was found out by estefanía’s parents, they were obviously outraged. they’re extremely homophobic and would go to EXTREME extents to try and brainwash their child. 
          
          unfortunately, this happens in the real world too. 
          
          estefanía was raped because her parents wanted her to be straight, so they forced a boy to do it. it’s disgusting and vile, but it happened. IT HAPPENS. 
          
          i’m sick and tired of people trying to brush over rape. it’s a real thing. it happens everyday. it’s not unnecessary in stories — we need to talk about this, especially in the lgbt community. 
          
          everyone’s entitled to their opinions, but please don’t read if there’s a clear warning. and please don’t comment insensitive things about something so, so real.
